The Amazon U.K. is pleased to offer HTC’s newly announced Desire Z smartphones to the public. As what their website has stated, the pricing for the Android-powered handset will start at an affordable price of $672 with free shipping. The Desire Z is even offering to the users an 800 MHz Qualcomm, a 7230 processor, five megapixel camera and a large touch screen display. HTC also includes a fast boot that would mean that the phone will automatically start up in just about ten seconds.

HTC is pleased to announce the Desire HD and Z, two Android-based smartphones as the company continually introduces a new interface to push into the important mobile services business. According to the Taiwan-based company, the top-end Desire HD runs on Qualcomm’s SnapDragon chip that comes with an 8megapixel camera and a large touch screen display. HTC includes its new interface that offers a web portal that can view maps, read e-books and access online services such as locating a missing phone.

Google TV is to enter set top market

Google TV is going big and making its presence felt in the Set Top market. It is going to offer different networks integrated into the Google TV service. Sony’s Smart TV sets will be the costliest followed by Logitech Revue for those who want a less expensive version with an option to add a set-top box on their HDTV. Dish network has offered Google TV Service in their boxes for an additional fee. The exact prices are not released and the price range given above are tentative based on competitive estimates but the going price could be anywhere around $300.

HTC to develop a tablet for Verizon

Verizon has authorized HTC to develop a tablet which will be run on Google’s Chrome operating system, and it is to be released in the Christmas vacation shopping season. The device is rumored to have a 1280 by 720 pixel touch screen display, a built-in webcam, 2-gigabytes of RAM and 32-gigabytes of storage space and as informed before will be using the Google’s Chrome operating system. Google’s Chrome operating system will have many inbuilt features for future applications and there will not be any need to reconfigure G-mail.

Engadget is soon to announce two new entrants

Mobiles.co.uk, a British smartphone retailer has dropped a bombshell that HTC devices, Engadget is soon to announce two new entrants into the market. The two phones named in the post are the HTC Desire HD and the HTC Desire Z. The former is rumored to have a 4.3-inch screen, a 1GHz processor, and the Android 2.2 OS while the latter sports a 3.7-inch display and a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard. But be careful and we do not confirm it as it is only a rumor.

Google to close down web store and stop sales of Nexus

Internet giant, Google, said that it has received the last batch of Nexus one smartphones and after selling them online Google will close down its web store and the selling of Nexus too. Google’s Nexus one launch early January was expected by many to compete with Apple’s iphone. However, the company’s decision to sell the product through its online store and start a direct to consumer sales was not supported by operators or at very high rates. Google in may said it would go through normal channels but ended up shutting the product down completely.

Customer growth returns despite Sprint’s loss

The high-speed Evo from HTC has added fuel to fire killing Sprint’s subscribers in the latest quarter. The company has said that it added 111,000 customers in April-June quarter, compared to a loss of 257,000 in the same period last year, but lost 228,000 more lucrative post-paid subscribers. Since buying out Nextel five years ago, Sprint has not been able to do well to it and Nextel business is still doing poorly. Sprint posted a second-quarter loss of $760 million from a $384 million loss a year ago. Revenue fell 1.4 percent to $8.0 billion.

HTC’s plan to enter China and Challenge iphone

Because of the increasing competition from Apple, HTC has said that it will for the first time enter China under its own name to bring in fresh customers. HTC hopes to grow into the largest cellular market in the world by entering a new deal with China mobile which has over half billion subscribers. Earlier HTC sold its products with shanghai based Dopod. The company said that four new smartphones including two touch screen phones will hit Chinese market in late august or early September.
